are the perfect combination with Sri Lanka
- only a 1.5 hour plane ride from Dubai
and a boat ride to your resort. A chain of 1,192 coral islands, they are grouped
into 26 atolls far out in the Indian Ocean.
Only about 200 of these islands are inhabited.
There are many extraordinary resorts in the Maldives.
Choosing the right resort is important as each one is very unique and
distinctive. There are three standards: elegant, modern and barefoot. I chose a
barefoot accommodation, the Gili Lankanfushi, - a smaller luxury boutique
resort that is environmentally friendly and has a relaxed casual atmosphere. At
Gili Lankanfushi, I was fortunate enough to stay in one of the over-water
residences. Each villa offers the personal services of a Mr Friday, named after
Robinson Crusoe’s loyal assistant and dear friend. This is an amazing resort!!
The reefs shelter thousands of species of fish, turtles,
whales, and dolphins. Resort boats take off before sunset to view and
photograph the famous spinning dolphins. In addition, known by locals as the
Manta Ray Car Wash, these giants of the ocean regularly travel though the reefs
to have their skin cleaned by accommodating smaller fish!
